Convert Excel Spreadsheets to PDF

PDF is the standard format for sharing documents when you need to preserve layout and ensure consistent viewing across devices. This tool converts your Excel workbook into a PDF document with each sheet rendered as a separate section, complete with sheet name headings and professional table formatting using the ReportLab library.

Page Layout Options

• Page Size — Choose from A4 (standard European document size), Letter (standard North American size), A3 (double the width of A4 for wide tables), or Legal (taller than Letter for long rows). Select a larger page size if your tables are too wide to fit comfortably on standard pages.
• Orientation — Landscape orientation is the default and recommended for most spreadsheets since tables are typically wider than they are tall. Switch to Portrait for sheets with fewer columns and many rows to maximize vertical space.
• Font Size — Adjust between 5 and 14 points. Smaller fonts around 6-8 work well for dense data tables with many columns. Larger fonts between 10-14 improve readability for presentation-ready documents intended for printing or screen viewing.

Limitations to Note

This tool performs basic table rendering — it converts cell values into a grid layout but does not preserve Excel-specific styling such as merged cells, conditional formatting, embedded charts, or cell background colors. Sheets with more than 5,000 rows are truncated to avoid memory issues; consider splitting large workbooks before conversion if you need all rows. For complex Excel files with extensive formatting consider using the built-in Excel-to-PDF export feature in Microsoft Excel for pixel-perfect results. The header row is automatically styled with a bold font and light gray background for readability.
