Using the Calculator
This calculator provides both basic arithmetic and scientific functions. You can use either the on-screen buttons or your keyboard for faster calculations. The expression display shows your full calculation history, while the result display shows the current value or final result.
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Number keys — Press 0-9 and the decimal point (.) to enter numbers.
- Operators — Use +, -, *, /, and % for basic operations.
- Enter or = — Calculate the current expression.
- Backspace — Delete the last entered digit.
- Escape — Clear the entire calculation and start over.
Scientific Functions
- √x (Square root) — Calculates the square root of the current number.
- x² — Squares the current value.
- 1/x (Reciprocal) — Calculates the inverse of the current number.
- sin, cos, tan — Trigonometric functions. Note that these expect input in degrees.
- log (base 10) — Calculates the common logarithm of the current value.
- ln (natural log) — Calculates the natural logarithm (base e).
- π — Inserts the mathematical constant pi (3.14159265...).
- e — Inserts Euler's number (2.71828182...), the base of natural logarithms.
